'Bottled ghosts' sell at auction - 09/03/2010
A pair of phials purported to contain the spirits of two ghosts have sold at auction in New Zealand. The two containers, which both contain holy water, are said to also hold the spirits of an old man and a young girl.
Sold via online auction site Trade Me in New Zealand, the lots were eventually bought for £935. Approximately 220,000 viewed the items in the week running up to the sale.
Avie Woodbury, who had the ghosts captured by an exorcist, revealed that prior to their capture, the spirits had caused a number of problems.
She told the BBC: "I would get things like the jug boiling itself, touching on the back of my neck, voices from other rooms, and items going missing then turning up in weird places.
"The dog was mental, he wouldn't go into certain rooms and my brother's daughter would stay with me and she said she spoke to a little girl."
Ms Woodbury is to donate the proceeds from the auction to an animal charity, once the exorcist has been paid.
