Baseball signed by JFK up for sale - 17/02/2010
A baseball signed by ex-US president John F Kennedy has been put up for auction, it has been revealed. The J Cronin American League Baseball was signed by the president for former Washington Senators manager Mickey Vernon at one of the Opening Day games the head-of-state attended during his presidency, according to the Boston Herald.
The ball comes with the inscription "To Mickey, Best Wishes, John F Kennedy".
Seller Hunt Auctions expects the item to sell for between $10,000 and $25,000, with online bids having taken the price to $10,450.
The ball's price is a result of the personal inscription detailed on it surface as well as the rarity of the item in general.
The sale of this piece comes soon after it was revealed that a collection of love letters written by Kennedy to his Swedish lover Gunilla von Post are to be put up for sale.
