Bonhams to host Doctor Who auction - 05/02/2010
A variety of props used in the making of the cult series Doctor Who are to go on sale at Bonhams later this month. Included in the sale, which takes place on February 24th, are several iconic items, such as Daleks.
Monster costumes, dresses and even a dinner suit worn by the popular David Tennant in three episodes will also be sold.
Stephanie Connell, entertainment memorabilia specialist at Bonhams, said that the auction was particularly exciting given the show's standing among the British public.
She said: "Doctor Who is without doubt one of the most important and best loved British television programmes, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to offer some of the most iconic costumes and props from the show."
A Cyberman from a 1988 episode has been given a pre-sale estimate of up to £2,500, while an Imperial Dalek (Mk 2) from the same year has been given a pre-sale estimate of between £5,000 and £7,000.
The first episode of Doctor Who was screened in 1963.
