Contemporary art collected from across Latin America will be put up for auction in New York next month.Auction house Phillips de Pury & Company will be selling works by the likes of Wilfredo Lam, Beatriz Milhazes and Manuel Alvarez Bravo at its second annual sale of art from Latin America on September 29th.
Lam's 1973 Untitled work on paper is expected to fetch in the region of $18,000 to $22,000, (£11,500 to £14,000) while a sculpture by US painter Neil Williams showing the impact of Latin culture on his own work could fetch between $120,000 and $140,000 (£77,500 to £90,500).
Other highlights include Guapisimas, a 2004 work by Pepe Lopez estimated at $20,000 to $30,000 (£13,000 to £19,500), which looks at themes such as globalisation and cultural identity through a Latin American lens.
As well as artworks, there will be pieces of furniture - including Pedro Friedeberg's Hand and Foot chair from the 1960s - graphic prints and posters, photographs and a range of screen prints.
Among the photographic prints on offer will be a selection by Ernst Haas, several of which have previously been reproduced in his book The Creation.
