Contemporary sculptures being exhibited - 14/05/2010
Cerith Wyn Evans, who incorporates a range of media in his work such as film, installation works and sculptures, has created the exhibition.Entitled Everyone's Gone to the Movies, Now We're Alone at Last, the works will be on display until May 22nd.
Some of the pieces on display include a light installation consisting of seven columns that are over five metres high and filled with tubular light bulbs.
Adjacent to this is a gallery dedicated to 22 of his works on paper which have been framed, some of which reference the poem Throw of the Dice will Never Abolish Chance by Marcel Broodthaers.
Art blogger for the Guardian Jonathan Jones described the exhibition: "Descending into the basement of Wyn Evans's latest show is like stepping into hell thrilling, dreadful and brilliantly unbearable."
Another sculpture on display is made from 16 mirrored discs that rotate in the air and transmit sounds.
