Damien Hirst book sells for just £460 - 29/01/2010

Damien Hirst book sells for just £460A book by contemporary artist Damien Hirst has sold for a meagre £460, it has been revealed.

The 1997 first edition copy of I Want To Spend The Rest Of My Life Everywhere With Everyone, One To One, Always, Forever, Now sold for the bargain price of £460 when it was put up for sale at Dominic Winter auctioneers in South Cerney, Gloucestershire, according to the Daily Mail.

The low price will come as a surprise to many, with the artist's auctioned pieces normally fetching much larger sums.

While this is not a unique painting, it remains a rare find and many will consider the purchaser's acquisition a genuine bargain.

Indeed, auctioneer Nathan Winter told the news provider: "For any collector of any contemporary artwork like this, that's a mere snip.

"Original Damien Hirsts are worth millions of pounds and most people interested in Damien Hirst's works would want the book to refer to - and it's a hard book to find on the market these days."

Damien Hirst recently agreed to donate some of his art to an Oxfam auction raising money for the people of Haiti.
