Damien Hirst offers lot for Haiti auction - 28/01/2010
Damien Hirst has joined a growing list of celebrities in offering possessions to be auctioned off for the people of Haiti. The artist's contribution is to be a signed prototype of his work All You Need is Love, Love, Love and Diamond Dust.
Fellow artist Rolf Harris is to also offer a piece of work, donating his oil painting Pines on the Hill.
The auction, which will raise money for Oxfam via sales on eBay, so far includes a huge variety of memorabilia and collectables from notables such as Coldplay, the Arctic Monkeys and PJ Harvey.
PJ Harvey's dress and shoe donation from her Uh Huh Her tour of 2004 is considered to be one of the more unusual lots.
Its description states: "This is the first ever PJ Harvey outfit to be officially auctioned. The dress is a customised PJ Harvey T-shirt featuring a black and white picture of the singer taken at the start of her career, and the shoes are a pair of well worn, size 37 neon pink stilettos," according to the Guardian.
The auction closes on February 1st.
