Dylan and Lennon collectables up for auction - 29/01/2010
A variety of Bob Dylan and John Lennon collectables are to be put up for sale next week. The auction, at Cameo Auctioneers near Reading, is to take place on February 2nd and will include a number of exciting lots.
Arguably the most exiting items are two leather jackets worn by Bob Dylan, both expected to garner a great deal of interest.
The first is a very rare number worn by the legendary musician in the 1978 documentary-film by Martin Scorsese.
The film was a celebration of The Band's final performance and sees Dylan share the screen with other greats such as Eric Clapton and Van Morrison.
Lot 401 the second of the two jackets is labelled 'Jackson the Tailor' and was donated by the singer to the Bloodstock Cooperative.
The item comes with a letter of authenticity from 1994 from one of The Band's vocalist's Rick Dando. The jacket has been given a pre-sale estimate of between £5,000 and £6,000.
A pre-release sleeve for John Lennon's and Yoko Ono's Double Fantasy album will also go under the hammer. The sleeve was signed by both parties on November 21st, 1980. It is expected to sell for £600 to £800.
