Entire US town up for sale - 29/03/2010

An entire US town has been put up for auction, it has been revealed.

Wauconda, a mountain resort town based in Washington state, has been put up for sale on eBay.

The town includes a post office, a petrol station, a grocery store and a restaurant.

Daphne Fletcher, who owns Wauconda, said that on deciding to sell the town she opted for eBay as it was a selling platform she had used several times before.

She said: "I have been doing eBay for many years with much smaller items. And I thought 'what the heck?' The real estate market is really slow right now and I thought that this would be the best way to get it out there."

Ms Fletcher did concede that she was not aware of how the current residents felt about her decision, telling KIRO radio that they probably thought she had "real audacity".

The auction runs until April 2nd.
