First Bath Art Affair announced - 08/09/2010

First Bath Art Affair announcedThe Bath Galleries Group, which was launched in July, has announced that it will be hosting the first ever Bath Art Affair.

The festival will take place across the city from November 12th until 21st, with the aim of promoting the region's fine art with collectors and buyers.

More than 30 galleries will be taking part in the event during which the public are invited into the art spaces of the city.

Talks, live music performances and special exhibitions that may display art by Damien Hirst will all occur at the annual event.

The Bath Galleries Group was established to promote the city's art scene internationally. It is composed of over 30 council-run and private galleries as well as local art dealers.

Sir Christopher Frayling, a writer and critic, is one of the high-profile backers of the art group, reports South West Business.

On the organisation's launch night in July, he said: "This is an important initiative and a timely reminder that there is much, much more to the art world than what goes on in London," quoted the news provider.
