Liverpool Biennial 2010 theme is Touched - 03/08/2010
The Liverpool Biennial, which showcases contemporary art and sculpture every two years, will be taking place from September 18th until November 28th.At the Tate Liverpool, visitors will be able to see and feel work for free for the first time this year.
This year's theme is Touched and the pieces of art being exhibited are supposed to reflect the idea of being emotionally affected by art but physical contact will also be encouraged.
For example, Austrian artist Franz West, who is known for his portable sculptures made from ordinary materials such as plastic or wire, has created pieces that incite visitors to lie down or sit on them.
Other highlights of the interactive contemporary art exhibition include performances by Wannes Goetschalckx and artist Jamie Isenstein will actually inhabit her work for the duration of the event.
Other artists such as Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan are currently asking visitors to make miniature boats out of cardboard boxes, which will become part of their main installation.
