Monroe therapy couch up for auction - 12/04/2010

The therapy couch on which Marilyn Monroe sat for counselling will be auctioned off later this year.

Set to be sold at a Hollywood Legends auction on June 26th and 27th at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, the sofa is likely to generate a great deal of attention.

While the seat was not exclusively used by Ms Monroe – it is from her therapist's office – it is still a significant piece of memorabilia for a woman whose life and death have remained so intriguing over the decades.

Other Marilyn Monroe pieces will be up for sale, including her Chanel No 5, personal photos and scripts. Bank statements and signed cheques will also be available for purchase.

Rivalling the therapy couch for most exciting piece will be the chair used in the actress's final photo shoot.

The sale will be overseen by Julien's Auctions.
