Print exhibition open in empty shops - 11/08/2010
An art exhibition has been set up in empty shops in the High Street of Cardiff and is showcasing a number of prints.Until August 21st, visitors will be able to see some of the work created by volunteer-run Cardiff Print Workshop, reports the Guardian.
The event ends with a print market, which will enable fans of the 13 artists who are showcasing their work at the exhibition, to purchase originals at a lower price.
It is hoped that the exhibition will enlighten shoppers about the often over-looked art form of prints and liven up the empty shops.
Lauren Burgess, member of the art society for eight years, told the news provider: "We are working hard to inform and inspire people of the wonderful techniques and methods of printmaking - we've been in the city for more than 20 years but we're not very well known so we hope this exhibition will make us more established."
Cardiff Print Workshop is run by and for printmakers and helps them develop their own skills and practise techniques such as etching and stone lithography.
