Queen Victoria stockings for saleA pair of silk stockings once owned by Queen Victoria are to be put up for sale next month.

The black and white leg garments are believed to date from 1874 and are purported to have been the Queen's favoured design during that particular decade, according to the BBC.

The auction will take place at Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh on March 24th, with a number of antiques also being sold on the day.

Lee Young, a specialist at the auction house, revealed that old possessions of Queen Victoria's had garnered a great deal of attention in the past, inferring that this lot could do very well.

He told the news provider: "Examples of the Queen's undergarments have long been considered the crowning glory for Victorian collectors around the world.

"In the past few years several items have come up for auction and made excellent prices, with interest from around the world."

The stockings are valued at £400.
