Rare watches will be going under the hammer - 21/05/2010

Rare watches will be going under the hammerTo celebrate the 150th anniversary of Tag Heuer, Bonhams will be selling a collection of its watches on December 15th.

Over 100 lots will be up for grabs including iconic models such as the Silverstone, Carrera, Daytona and Monaco.

A special watch has been designed by the company to be sold at the auction to mark its anniversary. The one-of-a-kind piece is based on the newly launched Silverstone model and the dial will incorporate the signature of honourary chairman Jack Heuer.

Paul Maudsley, director of the watch department at Bonhams, said: "These 81 watches in the collection represent the 'best of the best' which is why Tag Heuer is happy to showcase highlights of them as part of its anniversary celebrations. The watches range in value from £1,500 to £15,000."

Tag Heuer is a Swiss luxury watch maker, established in 1860 and known for its chronographs and sports watches.

All proceeds will be given to the Green Cross, an international environmental charity campaigning against issues such as poverty, sustainability and security.
