Silver and art deco jewellery to be sold - 19/04/2010
The first finest jewellery sale of the year will feature a 14.6 carat diamond pendant expected to fetch between £200,000 to £300,000 when it takes place on April 21st. The sale, to be held at Bonham's, includes a silver gilt paste and gem-set collar necklace which is expected to be of particular interest and could reach £3,000 to £5,000.
Four single stoned diamond rings of at least four carats are featured in the auction alongside an art deco diamond bracelet by Lacloche Freres (1925).
Jean Ghika, director of the Bonham's jewellery department, said: "We are delighted to be handling such a selection of exceptional diamonds, with estimates ranging from £55,000 to £300,000, as well as a number of rare art deco period pieces, for which competition is expected to be fierce."
One of the pieces on sale is a Van Cleef & Arpels art deco diamond, emerald and onyx bracelet and is estimated to fetch between £15,000 to £20,000.
Bonham's hopes to build on the success of its last jewellery sale in 2009 where a natural pearl necklace, once belonging to Lady Houston, was sold for £311,200.
