Tracey Emin supports Children's Arts day - 13/07/2010
Artist Emin and poet Laureate Antony Browne are some of the celebrities who are supporting Children's Art Day, which runs from July 12th until 18th.Thousands of young people across the country will be encouraged to take part in culture and participate in art through hundreds of events.
Libraries, art galleries and museums will be hosting activities alongside schools and youth groups.
Emin said: "The art gallery can be a place for a really good day out. People can experience art in all different kinds of ways and all different kinds of levels.
"The earlier children go to an art gallery the more they accept art into their lives."
More than 100 schools in the capital will be taking part and encouraging their students to partake in painting or sculpture.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson believes the week-long event will help youngsters express themselves.
In a recent survey by Creativity, Culture and Education, one in five parents said that their child had had no access to a cultural activity in the last 12 months.
