View Victorian artwork at royal exhibitionArtwork that once belonged to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert is being displayed at Buckingham Palace.

More than 400 pieces are being showcased at the Victoria and Albert: Art and Love exhibition, which runs until October 31st at the Queen's Gallery.

The aim of the exhibition is to convey the couple's love for art and the way they used it to express their love, as a third of the items on display were gifts exchanged between the pair.

Paintings, jewellery, drawings, photographs and sculptures from the Royal Collection are being displayed.

Some of the paintings depict the royal couple, who married in 1840 and had nine children together, such as a portrait by Sir Edwin Landseer in which the pair are dressed in 14th century outfits.

One of the pieces of jewellery being showcased is a bracelet with a miniature of Prince Albert inside it, which was created in 1840 just before their marriage.

Prince Albert died in 1861 from typhoid fever and the Queen wore black until her death in 1901.
