LOT NUMBER 17
Fine Quality engraved French Glass Dish with naturalistic Ormolu Mounts, early C20th
A small glass circular dish with deep sides and engraved to the centre with flowering lotus, mounted to the rim in gilt meatal or 'ormolu' with a circular band cast with a repeating loop design, astride which are a well modelled frog and a lily pad. Perhaps intended as a bonbonniere or a trinket dish, this charming piece clearly reflects the Art Nouveau style with its emphasis on naturalistic design. Similar pieces are held to be French and this is most likely the provenance here with a dating to the early C20th.Size: | Diam (gilt border) 9.5cm; Ht 2cm |
