LOT NUMBER 8
Pair of Gilt Metal and Onyx Scales, probably French, C20th
A decorative pair of scales with an elaborately cast fluted central column from which branch out two rococo like arms. From each arm is suspended an onyx vessel which sits on a gilt metal pan hanging by three linked chains. The column is fitted to a spreading onyx base which is supported by three gilt metal feet attached to a circular gilt metal rim. The casting of the metal work and general style of the piece suggests France and dating is most likely to the mid C20th.Size: | Ht (max) 16.5cm; Width (max) 15cm; Pans 4.8cm (diam); Base (max) 9cm |
