Italian marble and alabaster decorative figure of a mallard Duck, C20th

This is a very attractive decorative figure of a mallard duck made from highly polished green and brown marble joined with fine alabaster, the eyes picked out in red. The unusual combination of stone used here is skillfully blended to produce an item of great charm. The materials used to create this piece, perhaps intended as a paperweight, indicate Italian workmanship and the rounded lines suggest a mid twentieth century dating, perhaps to the 1960s.
