Humpty Dumpty Salt and Pepper, Mansell Print Ltd, late C20th

This is an ingenious condiment set of salt and pepper shakers in the form of the well known figure ‘Humpty Dumpty’ seen sitting (safely but wearing a plaster) on his wall. The figure forms the ‘salt’ and the wall the ‘pepper’, both containers complete with their plastic seals. The base is marked for ‘Mansell Print Limited’ who seem to have manufactured various ceramic novelty items including Humpty Dumpty figures and Monks. Sometimes their pieces are marked in addition ‘Weiss’ and were presumably made in England in the late twentieth century. This model was particularly successful.
