LOT NUMBER 25
Oriental style studio pottery Jarlet signed HA, C20th
A small vase or jarlet of globular form with a short concave neck glazed in browns and greens with popped bubbles in some places and traces of the ceramic body in others where the glaze has crawled slightly, the interior with clearly visible potting rings and the base unglazed with a brown glaze circle to the centre within which are the incised initials ‘HA’ as a monogram. This piece, in common with so many of its studio pottery companions, looks clearly towards the East and reminiscences can be seen of both Chinese ‘Cizhou’ (see image 7) and Japanese ‘Bizen’ (see image 8) wares but while the identity of its maker is yet to be established the skill of the craftsmanship is evident enough.| Size: | Ht 11.5cm, Width (max) 14cm, Base 8cm |
| Weight: | 775gm |
| Date: | C 20th |
| Condition: | Good condition, no issues. |
| Estimate: | £30 – 40 |
