of curved form, plainly carved to expose the natural grain of the material, the five peaks representing the five great mountains of China: Taishan in Shandong (east), Huashan in Shanxi (west), Hengshan in Shanxi (north), Hengshan in Hunan (south) and Songshan in Henan (centre)
