gouache with gold on paper, inscribed cartouche in devanagari in border above, framed. Provenance: Angele Maggi Spaulding Collection. Angele Maggi and William Stuart Spaulding who married in 1942, both inherited large fortunes from their families. Spaulding's grandfather had made his money in railways and sugar, while Maggi's father invented the stock cube and the seasoning sauce of that name which became famous around the world.
