Chinese soapstone Amulet decorated with a coiled dragon, C20th

This is an amulet, intended to protect the wearer in some way, made from Chinese soapstone in mottled mustard colourings, the near circular disc carved to represent a coiled dragon with broad overlapping scales, the reverse plain and with a small hole to allow the attachment of a cord for hanging. For the Chinese, the dragon symbolised prosperity and good luck, so this accessory item might be a useful acquisition for the scholar hard at work at his desk! The style of carving suggests mid to late twentieth century work and this piece was probably intended as a tourist souvenir.
