Uredale Glass Vase, late C20th/early C21st
This is a typical example of one of the range of pieces produced by the Uredale Glass Studio, set up in 1981 by Tim Simon in Masham, North Yorkshire. Simon had studied with a Master glassmaker from Stuart Crystal in the 1960s and his enthusiasm and interest in this craft led him on to start his own business with his wife, Maureen. Now trading for over forty years it is one of the longest running studio glassmakers in the United Kingdom. Their premises at Masham include a shop where a selection of their wares can be seen and purchased and there is also the opportunity to attend demonstration glass making courses. This round beaker like vase employs mottled and swirling glass effects in a range of purple tones and is very close in style to the ‘autumn’ hot glass range which can be seen on the studio’s website today. As with other Uredale pieces, the vase has a distinctive label with its maker’s name. Any collection of late twentieth century studio glass should include at least one piece from this well known maker and the vase shown here would be an ideal addition.Size: | Ht 12cm Width (max) 9.5 cm |
