Glass Aquarium Paperweight, probably Murano second half C20th

A glass boulder of rounded rectangular form with a flat base, the clear glass enclosing ten multicoloured fish, five on each face, swimming around a mottled central boulder with scattered bubbles. While other manufacturers have produced similar designs the best and best known were made at the glassworks at Murano, Venice, and the quality of the craftsmanship here with its imaginative and densely filled design employing a wide variety of colourings and colour effects within a skilfully blown form point to one of these as its maker. Dating most likely to the 1960s or 1970s the charm and humour of the design is obvious contributing to a most attractive desk ornament.
