LOT NUMBER 7
Three Art Glass Vases, second half C20th
xThis is group of three contrasting but complementary art glass vases from the second half of the twentieth century. The first has a broad ovoid body with a short slightly concave neck and a flaring rim and is decorated in blues and pinks with a ‘pulled feather’ design. Similar vases were made in America, both in shape and design, but this one seems a bit different. The second has an Art Deco look with a compressed ovoid body, banded at the centre, a short foot and a broadly flaring rim and is decorated in pink with a ‘bubble’ design. The similar shape is found in pieces from Clichy, France, but these seem to have gilt highlighting in addition which does not appear here. And the third, bulbous with a flaring foot and rim, the purple glass with three stylised floral medallions, does not have any direct parallels at all but can seem a bit ‘Murano’ like. Truly a mystery lot, then, but perhaps a voyage of discovery for its new owner!| Size: | (i) Light pink : Ht 13cm, Width (max) 10cm, Base 6cm (ii) Dark pink : Ht 12.3cm Width (max) 10cm, Base 6cm (iii) Purple Bowl Width (max) 14cm, Ht 9.3cm, Base 6.5cm |
