Murano bud glass vase with paperweight base, second half C20th

A bud glass vase with a long narrow and very slightly flaring neck above a globular body, the neck deep purple with white streak highlights and the body with a coloured relief sculpture of a flower growing from rocks in the style of a paperweight. This model was produced at Murano in the later years of the twentieth century and was clearly popular from the number of similar pieces which can be found today. Intended to display a single flower it can also double as a paperweight itself making it both decorative and functional as its new owner pleases.
