LOT NUMBER 12
Art Deco style figure of a Ballerina, RCR (Royal Crystal Rock), Italy, late C20th
A clear crystal glass figurine of a Ballerina, represented leaping with her arms stretched above her head above an Art Deco style pedestal with a stepped base. Figurines like this and others similar were made by the Italian firm RCR, Rock Crystal Glass, which was founded in 1967 at Colle di val d’Elsa, in Tuscany producing fine quality tableware and decorative items in crystal glass which it still manufactures today. At least one example can be found with a label for the factory and the accompanying box carries the series title ‘Crystal and Dance’. By repute, this figurine was called ‘Giselle’. Figurines are now longer listed in RCR’s online catalogue suggesting that the range was discontinued and that this figurine, like its counterparts, dates to the earlier years of production in the late twentieth century.| Size: | Ht (max) 25.5cm, Width (max) 12cm, Depth (figure/max) 4cm, Base width (max) 11.5cm, Base depth 8cm |
