Pietra Dura jasper moth Brooch, c1920

This is a very unusual pietra dura brooch that features jasper inlay in the shape of a moth. There are three types of jasper finished with malachite inlaid around the edge of the wings. There are also glass beads inset to imitate the typical markings on the wings. The panel is set in rolled gold in a classic rope twist design.
