Unusual pair of Brass neoclassical style Candlesticks, probably English, C19th
A pair of brass candlesticks, the stems in the form of a stylised Grecian design urn below flat spreading drip pans with candleholders again in the shape of an urn, the broad bases flaring outwards with a stepped edge. There are no ready parallels for this pair of candlesticks although candlesticks in neo classical designs reflecting the antique are quite easily found. The simple elegance suggests perhaps early nineteenth century work and English rather than continental manufacture. The result though is extremely attractive and would make an elegant decorative accessory.
